Welcome or Welcome Not

Silent film and live music

You must install Adobe Flash to view this content.

A short film featuring archive and contemporary footage of Hampshire mummers' plays, screened with a live soundtrack by Jigfoot using traditional tunes with local connections.

The project was originally conceived and performed in March 2012 at The Sounds of Silence, a series of events celebrating film and music. We were subsequently invited to bring the performance to the Groovy Movie Solar Cinema at Wickham Festival in August 2012.

"Welcome or Welcome Not" with its live accompaniment can be screened as a standalone event or as the centrepiece of a concert set.

"Then there's The Groovy Movie Solar Powered Cinema ... I venture in of Sunday afternoon to catch Jigfoot who are providing musical accompaniment to a silent movie they've made about mumming. It's not the kind of thing you expect to see at a festival in 2012, but it's a one off experience and a superb festival find."
